As promised, here is the video for the Remembrance of the 76th Anniversary of D-Day: https://vimeo.com/424980183
A special thanks to all who participated in the making of this video. HCol Larry Myny; HLCol Tania Lee; London Mayor Ed Holder; Westlake Brothers Souvenir Association Charlotte Girard; 1H Assoc President LCol (Ret'd) Joe Murray; Padre - Capt Jason Kouri; Pipe Major Tom Rankin and the 1st Hussars Pipe Band; WO Matt Crawford; WO Adam Dart; Bugler Cpl Emily Putherbough and of course our editor who spent many hours putting this together Melanie Prosser. Finally a very special note, to our dear friend Ron Janus who recently passed away. He was a big part of the Regiment, the Association and the Westlake Brothers Souvenir Assoc. He is missed and will be remembered.
I want to thank everyone who took part in the virtual D-Day Remembrance. It fills me with pride in the Regimental family that stretches across the globe. We had Chris Thompson in Riyadh, Robert McLeod in Korea, Sheila DeJaegher and Ann Wilkinson plus many members of the Association take part. Soldiers both serving and retired across Ontario stepped up to join in. Special thanks those deployed in Borden and Toronto on Op LASER.
We conducted two small ceremonies at London’s City Hall and the HOLY ROLLER. We also kicked off the Fund Raising for the HOLY ROLLER Memorial Project: www.1hholyroller.ca
Next event, Le Mesnil Patry. No idea as to what we will do at this time, but in recent years we gathered at the HOLY ROLLER told some stories and toasted the fallen with Calvados.
Here’s to you, the best Regiment and Regimental family in the Army.
